From the Coaches
Head Coach Braden Holloway
"I think our night was a really great night for us; we got great momentum right out of the gates in the 500 free," said head coach Braden Holloway. "Top-to-bottom our depth in the 500 free scored us a lot of points and hats off to that 'B' final; Anna Jahns, Tamila Holub and Kate Moore going one-two-three. It was a great momentum shift for us and set up Hannah Moore, who had a great swim, the second-fastest she's ever been. It led us into some great 200 IM's, when you have three girls that swam times that would have made nationals last year and a freshman, Julia Poole, getting on the podium, there were a lot of great performances right out of the gates. We struggled a little bit in the 50 but had a bright spot in the 'C' final with Elise and struggled a little bit in that last relay. It's a little bit tough when you have some girls who would normally be in that relay on the bench due to injuries. All in all, I felt like our women had a really big night and moved up in a lot of spots, got their hands on the wall and held spots we needed held. Tomorrow's another opportunity for us; we know there's going to be a lot more points up for grabs tomorrow and we just need to be ready to go. Hats off to James Brady, who continues to dive exceptionally and moved up again tonight."
Diving Coach Yahya Radman
"It was a bittersweet day," said Radman. "Some things went to plan, some did not. Holt did a nice job scrapping for every point but managing rookie nerves is also a part of the process. Then there's SlimJim. Freaking steady eddy SlimJim. Wow! From zero to hero...yeah, that was exciting. Not only did he sneak into the final but he also moved up. The Wolfpack nation has been nonstop in supportive messages about this program and where we were to where we are...and Slim is leading the charge."
Team Standings
NC State sits in third place with 373 points; Virginia sit atop the standings with 442.5 points and Louisville is second with a score of 414.5.
