ATLANTA – Junior diver James Brady wrapped up competition on Friday afternoon at the USA Diving Winter Trials, held at Georgia Tech's McAuley Aquatic Center in Atlanta.
He opened competition on Tuesday in the men's synchronized platform with Ohio State's Aaron Daniels-Freeman, as the duo finished fourth with a combined scored of 600.06 after advancing to the finals in the event.
Brady additionally competed in the men's three-meter dive and platform events on Thursday and Friday, finishing 24th and 13th, in respective order. The Chapel Hill, N.C., native posted a score of 253.30 on three-meter and result of 282.30 on platform.
"The meet overall was a good experience for James in order to get some of the new things we've been working on into a competitive setting," said head diving coach Yahya Radman. "Obviously, we're not happy with the way a couple of dives went, but it gives us a good base for what needs to improve moving forward.
"This is a crucial part in our training where we move from the basics into our list build-ups, and we'll try to find some consistency moving into championship season. I'm very happy with a couple of dives, but there's a few that need some attention. We'll come back from the winter break refreshed and ready to go get back to work with a solid push towards our main goals and objectives."
Brady and the rest of the diving team will return to action Jan. 4-6, 2019, at the Georgia Diving Invite in Athens, Ga. The entire program will wrap up regular-season competition Jan. 19 and 26 when it hosts ACC rivals UNC-Chapel Hill and Virginia in a pair of dual meets at Casey Aquatic Center. Both are slated for an 11 a.m. start.
