King, Walkling Named To United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-South Region Team

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Thanks to their strong seasons on the field and in the classroom, Tziarra King and Ricci Walkling of the NC State women's soccer team collected United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-South Region Team honors, as recently announced by the association.
King was named to the second team while Walkling was placed on the third team, as this is the first time since 2010 and third year in program history that at least one player has been placed on a scholar all-region team.
The duo also earned All-ACC and United Soccer Coaches All-Region honors in the postseason, as they both played an integral role in the team's successful 2018 campaign.
King, who is from Sicklerville, N.J., additionally earned CoSIDA Google Cloud Academic All-District and All-America First Team honors, as she is a nutrition science major with a cumulative 4.00 grade-point average. Walkling, an Obergriesbach, Germany, native, is a parks, recreation and tourism management major with a cumulative GPA of 3.66.
NC State (11-7-4) made its third straight NCAA Championship appearance for the first time since the 1994-96 seasons, which included reaching its second Sweet 16 appearance in three years and hosting the NCAA First Round for the second consecutive year.
The Wolfpack additionally earned five wins/ties against top 20 opponents and finished with 10+ wins for the third straight year.
The two played a combined 3,642 minutes, as King started all 22 matches this year and Walkling made 19 starts. King led the team with 10 goals and 26 points, while Walkling tallied a team-best seven assists. King's numbers ranked her third and fourth, respectively, in both categories among the ACC, and Walkling is T7th in assists among the league.
