Wolfpack set for battles against Kentucky and Army
Live Targets
RALEIGH, N.C. – The 17th-ranked NC State rifle team will head to Lexington, Ky., this weekend for a pair of Great America Rifle Conference (GARC) matches against the host and No. 4 Kentucky Wildcats and the 11th-ranked Army Black Knights.
The Wolfpack and Wildcats will square off on Friday morning at 8 a.m. inside the Kentucky Rifle Range. Saturday's match versus Army will begin at 9 a.m.
First-year NC State head coach Emily Holsopple will lead the Wolfpack against her collegiate head coach Harry Mullins, as she was a nine-time All-American as a member of the Kentucky rifle team.
"I'm very excited to compete against Coach Mullins and his team," said Holsopple. "Kentucky is always a strong team that consistently sets the standard for our conference and the NCAA. Our Pack has been working hard all fall in preparation for these matches.
"Our performances are starting to come together in practice and we have even seen personal bests. I'm looking forward to seeing how all our hard work in training correlates to match performances this weekend."
NC State heads into the weekend with a 2-2 record on the year, including a 1-2 mark in GARC action. Kentucky is 5-0 on the season and 3-0 in conference matches, while Army is 3-1 and 2-1 versus conference opponents.
Last season, the Pack defeated Army in West Point (4663-4632) but fell against Kentucky (4689-4673) on the same weekend.
