Saveljics Advance to Second Round of ITA National Fall Championships

SURPRISE, Ariz. – NC State men's tennis players Igor Saveljic and Ivan Saveljic earned a spot in the Round of 16 at the ITA National Fall Championships after picking up a first-round doubles victory over Florida Gulf Coast's Felipe Escobar and Mateo Ruiz Wednesday.
Igor and Ivan started the match strong by going up a break and did not slow down from there. The Wolfpack seniors went on to break Florida Gulf Coasts' serve once more in the first set on the way to taking it by a 6-2 score.
Florida Gulf Coast took a 5-3 lead in the second set, but Igor and Ivan rallied off a break and a service hold to tie the game score at five. Both pairs held their next service games, forcing a tiebreaker for the second set, which Escobar and Ruiz won 7-5 to force a third set.
Igor and Ivan took a tight super tiebreaker by a 10-8 score to secure their spot in the second round.
