#13 Wolfpack Defeats Michigan in ACC/B1G Challenge

NC State is 7-0 for the first time since the 1999-2000 season

RALEIGH – The 13th-ranked NC State women's basketball team is off to its first 7-0 start to a season since 1999-2000 after defeating visiting Michigan 66-55 Thursday evening on Kay Yow Court at James T. Valvano Arena at Reynolds Coliseum in the 2018 edition of the ACC/B1G Challenge.
NC State trailed 40-33 with 6:49 remaining in the third quarter, but put together an incredible 21-4 run over the next 9:27 of game action to take a commanding 54-44 lead that it would not relinquish down the stretch. Michigan would cut NC State's lead to five points on three occasions during the fourth quarter, but the Wolfpack outscored the Wolverines 6-0 during the final 2:57 to close out the win.
Grace Hunter led all players with 19 points, eight rebounds, and four steals. She went a perfect 11-11 from the free-throw line on an evening when the Wolfpack shot 17-22 (.773) as a team. Kiara Leslie (15 points) and freshman Elissa Cunane (13) joined Hunter in double-figure scoring. Junior guard Aislinn Konig chipped in six points to go with her game-high six assists.
Nicole Munger led the Wolverines with 18 points on 7-9 shooting that included a 4-6 success rate from distance. She was joined in double figures by 14 points from Deja Church.

-NC State outscored Michigan 36-22 in the paint, 24-9 off turnovers, 12-10 on the fast break, and 18-9 in bench production.
-Michigan entered the game as the No. 8 rebounding team in the nation at +16.2 boards per game. The Wolfpack and Wolverines each grabbed 41 total rebounds.
-Michigan senior center Hallie Thome was recently named to the Wade Trophy Award Watch List and came into the game averaging 15.8 points per outing. NC State's frontcourt held her to seven points on 2-8 shooting.
-NC State now leads the all-time series with Michigan 2-1. Thursday marked the first meeting between the programs since the 2008 ACC/B1G Challenge.
-Wolfpack senior DD Rogers made her 100th career appearance in the victory.
-NC State has won 23 consecutive non-conference games at home.
-Konig has made at least one three-pointer in 40 consecutive games.
