
Wolfpack Set for USA Swimming’s Winter Nationals

RALEIGH – Select NC State swimmers will be in action this week as they compete at USA Swimming's 2018 Winter National Championships, set to run Wednesday through Saturday at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.
The Wolfpack will be represented by 14 of its current student-athletes at the long-course competition. Zach Brown, Giovanni Izzo, Nyls Korstanje, Coleman Stewart and Andreas Vazaios will be in action for the No. 3 NC State men. The No. 7 Wolfpack women will be represented by Kylee Alons, Vasiliki Baka, Mackenzie Glover, Sophie Hansson, Danika Huizinga, Ky-lee Perry, Sirena Rowe, Makayla Sargent and USA National Team member Elise Haan.
Wolfpack alumni Anton Ipsen, Hannah Moore and Hennessey Stuart are also set to compete at the national meet.
The USA Swimming Winter Nationals marks the opening of the qualification period for the 2020 U.S. Olympic Team Trials, which serves as the qualifier for American swimmers for pool competition at the Olympic Games.
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:
The timed finals of the 800-meter freestyle will take place beginning at 6 p.m. Nov. 28 and will be followed by three more days of long-course competition. From Nov. 29 through Dec. 1, there will be 9 a.m. prelims each morning, with the finals set to begin at 5 p.m. each evening. During each night session, the B (consolation) final will be raced first, followed by the A (championship) final and the C (bonus) final.
The meet will consist of a total of 14 individual events for each gender. No relays will be raced. The event order and slated Wolfpack participants are as follows:

200 individual medley

100 breaststroke – Hansson

1500 freestyle – H. Moore, Ipsen
200 backstroke – Huizinga, Glover, H. Stuart,
100 freestyle – Baka, Alons, Korstanje, Izzo, Stewart
