Grace Hunter Named Riviera Division MVP at Cancun Challenge

Junior guard recorded two double-doubles in two Wolfpack wins

CANCUN, Mexico – Redshirt junior guard Grace Hunter of the 15th-ranked NC State women's basketball team (6-0) was named the Most Valuable Player of the 2018 Cancun Challenge Riviera Division, as announced by tournament officials late on Saturday evening.

Hunter had two terrific games for the Wolfpack during the team's 78-74 win over Michigan State on Nov. 22 and 69-61 win over George Washington on Nov. 23. The junior averaged a double-double with 18.5 points, 11.0 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game. The Raleigh native shot 15-26 (.576) from the field and 4-8 (.500) from three-point range during the two games.

After scoring 16 points and grabbing 11 rebounds in the win over a strong Michigan State team, Hunter led all players in points (21) and rebounds (11) during the Wolfpack's win over George Washington.

For the season, Hunter is averaging 29.8 minutes, 14.8 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game during her debut campaign at NC State.
