SOLID RESULTS AGAINST THE BEST
NC State has posted a 2-1-2 record against the 2018 NCAA Selection Committee's top-10 teams that were announced on Oct. 28. This season, the Wolfpack lost at No. 1 Wake Forest, defeated No. 3 UNC-Chapel Hill, defeated No. 8 Virginia Tech, and drew No. 9 Louisville.
WOLFPACK AGAINST RANKED OPPONENTS
2017-2018 seasons: 5-6-3
2009-2016 seasons: 7-30-7
SEEKING CONSECUTIVE NCAA TOURNAMENTS
The Wolfpack's appearance in the 2017 NCAA Tournament was the program's first since 2009. If NC State were to qualify for the 2018 NCAA Tournament, it would mark the first time the program qualified for back-to-back postseasons since the 1991 and 1992 seasons.
RECRUITING CLASS RANKINGS
2017: No. 9 in the nation.
2018: No. 13 in the nation.
2019: No. 9 in the nation (signing begins Nov. 14).
SET PIECE SWEENEY
Playing in a defensive midfield role does not often lead to many scoring opportunities, so sophomore Brad Sweeney is making his count. The Birmingham, England, native has scored four goals on set pieces this season: Aug. 24 vs. USC Upstate, Sept. 25 at Pittsburgh, Oct. 20 vs. No. 24 Syracuse, and Oct. 31 vs. Boston College. He has six shots on target this season, three of which are goals.
STEADY IN GOAL
Sophomore goalkeeper Leon Krapf is in the second season of a very strong college career. The German international has played every minute of 35 matches and has recorded 14 shutouts and 93 saves while allowing only 39 goals. His current goals against average (GAA) for his career is 1.06, which ranks No. 1 in the available goalkeeping records at NC State.
With seven shutouts this season, Krapf ranks 16th in the NCAA.
