
Rifle Takes Down No. 11 Army in GARC Matchup

Wolfpack tallies third-highest score of the season
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The NC State rifle team put together a strong performance to take down the 11th-ranked Army Black Knights, 4649-4634, Saturday afternoon inside the Kentucky Rifle Range.
The Wolfpack turned in a team score of 2316 in the smallbore competition and a 2333 in air rifle to compile its aggregate total, while the Black Knights fired a 2294 as a team in smallbore and 2340 in air rifle.
NC State moves to 3-3 on the year and 2-3 in Great America Rifle Conference (GARC) action, while Army falls to 3-4 and 2-2 versus conference opponents.
Smallbore Notes
- Junior Kendra Jacobs led all shooters in the smallbore event with a score of 586, as she was nearly perfect in kneeling and prone with a score of 99 in each relay.
- Senior Claire Spina finished second with a mark of 581, highlighted by a perfect second series in the prone position.
- Will Marciniak turned in a score of 577 with 99s on both series in prone, while Emily Fisher tallied a 572 thanks to a 100 on her second series of prone.
- Claire Zanti rounded out the lineup for the Wolfpack with a 568.
-Tyler Lefebvre and Zach Eisenberg also competed in the event, logging scores of 556 and 553, respectively.
Air Rifle Notes
- Fisher paced the Pack in the air rifle discipline with a score of 587 to claim second place in the individual standings.
- Spina charted NC State's next-highest total with a 585 and freshman Aron Tinter earned a result of 582.
- Jacobs notched a score of 579, while Zanti shot a 575 to conclude the Wolfpack's counting shooters.
- Marciniak logged a 578 and Lefebvre tallied a 576.
Aggregate Notes
- NC State shooters claimed three of the top-four spots in the aggregate, headlined by Spina with a score of 1166 and Jacobs was right behind her with an 1165.
- Fisher took fourth with a score of 1159.
