NC State dominated the first half as playing conditions deteriorated due to heavy rain in the area. The Wolfpack outshot the Lancers by a 7-2 margin and generated eight corner kicks in the first 45 minutes of play. Roberts had one of NC State's best chances in the opening half, pouncing on a poor back pass by a Longwood defender but missing the right post by inches with his attempt from 10 yards.
Loera got the Wolfpack on the board just 32 seconds into the second half. The sophomore pressured goalkeeper Miguel Bayma, who came out of the goal and missed on his clearance attempt. The ball fell to a Longwood defender, who attempted to clear it from harm's way, but Loera continued his run and blocked the ball into the back of the net.
Roberts doubled the Wolfpack lead when he tapped in a Manny Perez cross at the left post in the 55th minute. Loera also assisted on the goal by playing the ball up the right sideline to an open Perez.
NC State returns to action at home on Friday, Oct. 12 when No. 1 UNC-Chapel Hill comes to Raleigh. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 pm from Dail Soccer Stadium with live video coverage provided by ACC Network Extra. Wolfpack fans are encouraged to wear red to help RED OUT the stadium.

GOAL @packmenssoccer! David Loera's hustle yields a bit of an unconventional goal to give his side a 1-0 lead on the road.
