Women’s Soccer Suffers 2-0 Loss At Boston College

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The No. 23 NC State women's soccer team suffered a 2-0 loss on Sunday afternoon to No. 11 Boston College at Newton Soccer Field in Chestnut Hill, Mass.
The Wolfpack moves to 9-4-2 (2-3-1 ACC) while the Eagles improve to 13-1-0 (5-1-0 ACC) on the year.

How It Happened
The Eagles started the match with a pair of shots in the first five minutes. BC's leading scorer, Sam Coffey, took the first shot of the match in the third minute from the top of the box but it missed high. Two minutes later Carly Leipzig put one on target from the left side, but Sydney Wootten made the easy save.
Wootten was tested twice more in the first 25 minutes, making a diving save on a low strike towards the left post then deflecting a shot from the six-yard box. The first shot for the Pack came in the 21st minute when Tziarra King found an opening from the top of the box, but goalkeeper Alexis Bryant managed to keep the score level.
The Eagles broke the deadlock in the 35th minute when Sam Coffey's shot from the right side hit the left post and went into the net off a pass from Jenna Bike. Two minutes later Olivia Vaughn scored on a breakaway, as she took the ball from the midfield down into the box and finished to the bottom right corner of the net.
BC opened the second half with three shots and a corner in the first 10 minutes. In the 60th minute Gaby Carreiro was brought down in the box, awarding the Eagles a penalty Kick. Kayla Jennings took the kick but Wootten made the crucial save to keep the score 2-0.
After BC produced a shot in the 62nd minute off a pair of corners, King, Kia Rankin and Ricci Walkling recorded a combined four shots over the next 18 minutes. Wootten was once again tested in the final 10 minutes of regulation, as Boston College put two of three straight shots on frame but she saved them.
In the 86th minute the Pack had a last chance to put a tally on the board, as King was brought down in the box to award her team a penalty kick. Walkling took the shot but it was saved.
The Eagles outshot NC State 18-6, putting eight on goal while half of the Pack's were on target. BC won four corners compared to the Red and White's three, while Wootten was forced to make six saves in the contest.

The Pack will complete its road swing when it travels to No. 10 Florida State. Kickoff is 7 p.m. and the contest will be broadcast on the ACC Network Extra.
