Wolfpack Rifle Starts Season with Strong Score at The Citadel

NC State with strong debut under first-year head coach Emily Holsopple
CHARLESTON, S.C. – The NC State rifle team turned in a strong start to the Emily Holsopple era, as the Wolfpack compiled a team score of 4658 Saturday afternoon inside the Inuoye Marksmanship Center on The Citadel's campus.

The Pack recorded a team score of 2312 in the smallbore competition and a 2346 in air rifle to log its aggregate score of 4658, the second-highest score in a season opener in program history and highest score in a season opener on the road.Â

NC State's best score in a season opener was 2016-17 when the Wolfpack started the year at home with a match inside Reynolds Coliseum, tallying a score of 4671.

Smallbore Notes
- Junior Kendra Jacobs led the Wolfpack in the smallbore discipline with a score of 583, highlighted by perfect scores on both series in the kneeling position.
- Claire Spina charted a career-best score of 579 as NC State's second highest, thanks to a perfect first series in the prone position.
- Will Marciniak tallied a perfect second series in prone to record a score of 577, while Claire Zanti charted a score of 573.
- Freshman Emily Fisher made her collegiate debut and logged a score of 563, and Zach Eisenberg rounded out the lineup with a 549.
