Held Selected to USA Swimming’s 2018 FINA World Championships Lineup

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – NC State swimming alumnus Ryan Held was named to USA Swimming's roster for the upcoming 2018 FINA World Swimming Championships (25m), which is set for Dec. 11-16 in Hangzhou, China.
Held, whose final year of eligibility with the Wolfpack was during the 2017-18 season, is set to represent the United States in the 400 freestyle relay.
The Springfield, Ill. native enjoyed an illustrious collegiate career, highlighted by four NCAA titles over the course of his four years of competition. A 25-time All-American at NC State, Held most recently won gold as a part of the Wolfpack men's 400 and 800 freestyle relay teams at the 2018 NCAA Championships. The 400 freestyle relay squad broke the school, NCAA, U.S. Open and American records on the way to taking first place.
Held also won a gold medal at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro as a part of the United States' winning 4x100-meter freestyle relay team. In the first international meet of his career, he swam the third leg of the relay, teaming up with Caeleb Dressel, Michael Phelps and Nathan Adrian to secure the win for the United States.
