RALEIGH – The NC State softball team is set to open its fall slate this week when it travels to UNC-Chapel Hill Thursday and East Carolina Friday for a pair of games.
First pitch versus the Tar Heels is 7 p.m. at Anderson Stadium in Chapel Hill, N.C., while the game with the Pirates is slated for a 6 p.m. start at ECU Softball Stadium in Greenville, N.C. The contest with ECU will be 10 innings, and both games are free admission.
This week will be the team's first competition under first-year head coach Jennifer Patrick-Swift. 12 players return from last year's squad, while five freshmen and three transfers make up the team's newcomers.
Looking ahead at the Wolfpack's schedule, the team will host Fayetteville Tech Community College Sunday in a 1 p.m. doubleheader. This will be the first two of five home games this fall.
