NC State will return to action Sunday afternoon at Georgia Tech

CLEMSON, S.C. – Having won the last four meetings against Clemson, the NC State volleyball team was unable to make it five as the Wolfpack fell to the Tigers, 3-1 (22-25, 25-22, 15-25, 22-25), Friday night inside Jervey Gym.

Clemson opened the match strong and NC State was never able to get into a rhythm offensively or defensively. The Wolfpack showed some flashes of success but was unable to sustain it for long periods of time.

The Wolfpack falls to 10-11 on the year and 4-7 in ACC play, while the Tigers improve to 12-12 and 3-8 in conference action.

"I'm excited about the bright spots we saw tonight," said third-year head coach Linda Hampton-Keith. "Our challenge is to compete at a high level on the road and have more of a balanced attack that we can depend on. We're looking forward for the opportunity to play again on Sunday and continue growing as a complete team."

Match Rewind
- Clemson opened the match with a strong first set, as the Tigers recorded a .412 team attacking percentage en route to a 25-22 win.
- Sophomore Melissa Evans gave NC State a 17-15 lead with a kill, but the Tigers answered with four unanswered points to pull ahead, 19-17.
- A kill from senior Teni Sopitan cut the margin to 23-22; however, a Clemson kill and service ace gave the Tigers a 1-0 lead in the overall match.
- NC State returned the favor in the second set with a 25-22 win of its own to knot the match at one set apiece.
- After Clemson pulled ahead 19-18, the Wolfpack won five of the next six points to take a 23-20 lead.
- Evans gave the Pack set point at 24-21 and Kylie Pickrell capped the frame with a heads up play at the net to record the kill on the second contact.
- The third set was tight early, but Clemson grabbed control of the set with a 7-1 run to extend the lead to 15-8 and went on to win it, 25-16.
- NC State started slow in the fourth set, but recovered quickly to knot the score at 5-5 after trailing 5-2.
- The Pack evened the set at 12 after a kill from Jade Parchment, but the Tigers countered by winning six of the next seven points to grab an 18-13 advantage.
- NC State battled to the end, fighting off four match-point opportunities before Clemson was able to convert to earn the win.

Top Performers
- Evans and Sopitan each recorded 14 kills to lead the way for the Wolfpack, while Parchment and Lauryn Terry had seven apiece.
- Pickrell tallied 39 assists to go along with six digs and two kills.
- Defensively, Keira Moore logged four blocks and Makenzie Kuchmaner charted eight digs.
