RALEIGH – After a solid start to the 2018-19 campaign that saw both teams win their first two dual meets of the season, the NC State men's and women's swimming and diving teams each earned No. 4 rankings in the latest national poll, as announced by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Wednesday.
The Wolfpack women made an impressive jump in the poll, bettering their No. 11 preseason ranking by seven spots. It marks the highest national ranking for NC State's women since the team started the 2016-17 season ranked No. 4. NC State's men maintained their hold on the No. 4 ranking that they received in the preseason.
The Pack swept each of its first two meets to give both the men and the women 2-0 starts with wins against South Carolina and Duke. NC State picked up first-place finishes in 23 events and earned 10 podium sweeps against the Gamecocks in the season opener and went on to win all but two of the swimming events in the victory over the Blue Devils.
NC State will return to action Nov. 10-11 as it takes part in the inaugural ACC/Big Ten Challenge on the campus of Purdue. Select members of the team will be named to the ACC's squad for the interconference meet.
