Women's Tennis Comes Out Strong at ITA Carolina Regional

The Pack Went 7-2 on Thursday
Chapel Hill, N.C. --Â The NC State women's tennis team got off to a solid start at the ITA Carolina Regional on Thursday, earning a 7-2 record at the end of the first day of competition. The Wolfpack tallied two singles wins and five doubles wins.
The Wolfpack showed strength in singles competition, ending the day with a 2-1 record. Amanda Rebol and Dylan Cannon got the Pack started off on the right foot, both recording wins in the first two matches of competition for the team. Rebol advanced to the Round of 16 in qualifying singles by defeating Tayla Van Eck of Winthrop, dominating the last two sets of the match, after dropping the first. Her victory in the Round of 32 places her tied for fourth all-time for career singles wins in the NC State women's tennis record books. Rebol was defeated in the Round of 16 by Tai Martin. Cannon defeated Eva Borders of Furman to give the Pack a 2-0 start for the day.
Overall, the Pack tallied a 5-1 record in doubles competition on Thursday. Doubles partners Bianca Moldovan and Claudia Wiktorin tallied two doubles wins, including a win that required a comeback after being down 0-3 to Barisano & Muller-Hughes.
