Spanbauer one of three Wolfpack men to finish in top 15 on one-meter
Knoxville, Tenn. – Stewart Spanbauer's top-10 finish on the one-meter board highlighted a successful day for the NC State diving team at the Tennessee Diving Invitational inside the Jones Aquatic Center. Spanbauer was one of three Wolfpack divers to earn a top-15 finish in the event.
Spanbauer tabbed a mark of 292.65 in the one-meter final, earning 10th. He finished fifth in the preliminary round, scoring a 325.85. James Brady was unlucky not advance to the final as he posted a score of 296.10 in the preliminary round to finish 13th. Holt Gray was also in contention for the final, finishing 15th with a mark of 287.15. Harrison Mitchell's score of 247.50 saw him finish 26th.
On the women's three-meter board, Madeline Kline finished 13th as she scored a 278.50. Bailey Revels score of 175.75 saw her finish 36th.
"Today we had a very good day on the boards," said diving coach Yahya Radman. "I think our divers weren't very pleased with yesterday's performance and came out of the gates firing today. Madeline and James just missed the mark by less than a point, with each finishing in 13th place when the top 12 make the final. Holt did an outstanding job considering he's coming back from a little bit of an injury, but also a freshman in a very intense environment such as this; he responded admirably and I see some great things in this young man's future. The highlight of the day was Stewart Spanbauer, who just had the meet of his life on one-meter and I cannot be more excited to see where this is going to take us in the next few weeks leading up to our larger championships. Tomorrow is platform; it's a new day with a new crew and Harrison, Madeline, James and Holt will do one list instead of your traditional two lists and that will determine final placement. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens tomorrow and am looking forward to coming back to Raleigh with some very good news and some momentum to move forward for the next few weeks."
