Knoxville, Tenn. – The NC State diving team ended the Tennessee Diving Invitational on a high note as James Brady set a new program record on platform and finished third in the event Friday afternoon inside the Jones Aquatic Center.
Brady's total of 376.20 topped the previous record of 352.65 set by Hudson Raines in 2013.
Stewart Spanbauer tabbed a mark of 299.15 to finish 11th, Holt Gray scored 243.25 to finish 22nd and Harrison Mitchell finished 24th with a score of 232.45.
"Today was a great day for James Brady and the Wolfpack divers," said diving coach Yahya Radman. "James re-set our school record and that's been his goal for a long time. He finally got it and now that monkeys off his back, we can refocus on the process and less on the results. There were a lot of people that doubted the process and what we were doing and it's good to see that work, planning and everything will come together; it just needs a little time and tender loving care. Another nice suprise was Stewart Spanbauer, who had some big dives. He's going to be a force to be reckoned with at the end of the season. We now have to prepare for Virginia, North Carolina and the championship stretch."
