RALEIGH – NC State women's golf head coach Page Marsh has announced the addition of Wassawan Sangkapong (Mim) to the program. A sophomore transfer from Gardner-Webb, she has enrolled for the spring semester and is eligible to practice with the team immediately.
A native of Thailand, Sangkapong played in eight tournaments with the Runnin' Bulldogs. Her most recent outing was in the fall of 2017 when she finished in a tie for 29th at the ECU Pirate Collegiate Classic with a team-best score of 228 (77-78-73).
As a freshman she helped her team win the Mimosa Hills Intercollegiate and earn a runner-up finish at the 2017 Big South Championship. Her career-best finish was at the Mimosa Hills Intercollegiate when she finished T14th with a 152 (77-75).
"We're excited to have Mim join our program. I look forward to watching her contributions to our Pack history as she meshes her golf dreams with ours," said Marsh. "Mim looks forward to and is grateful to be a part of the history that has been created here by other driven young women.
"Mim will have a transition to make just like anyone new to Raleigh and NC State, but her talent, her drive, and athleticism coupled with her positive character traits will serve her, our team and our university well. Mim has a tireless work ethic, passion for the game and contagious enthusiasm. She exudes gratitude for this great opportunity to be a student-athlete at NC State. As a coach I'm fortunate to serve and to facilitate the dreams of so many in an environment where we have great leadership and enjoy such great support from our Wolfpack Family."
