CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Participating in its first EAGL competition of 2018, the #21 NC State gymnastics team captured 15 top five finishes as it prevailed over UNC-Chapel Hill 194.650-194.375 Friday night inside Carmichael Arena.

"Any time you're able to win against UNC-Chapel Hill it is great, but looking more at the performances today I saw a lot of improvements from last weekend," said head coach Kim Landrus. "The big difference today was we cut down on the little mistakes. However, you are only allowed to have one major mistake on an event, and today we had two on beam. It's something we will learn from though. We'll get back to the gym and continue working on the details which were much improved today. There's still so much room for this team to grow."

Equaling last week's total of 48.275, Drew Grantham posted a score of 9.850 to finish first overall. Chelsea Knight tied for second with a 9.825 while Alexis Beucler finished fourth thanks to her score of 9.775.
Floor
Posting a season high total of 48.950, Drew Grantham's 9.850 saw her tie for second while Alexa Phillips tabbed a mark of 9.825 to tie for fourth. Mackenzie Itcush and Chelsea Knight both earned scores of 9.775 to tie for eighth.
Vault
Alexa Phillips and Chelsea Knight both posted scores of 9.800 to tie for third while Drew Grantham and Caitlyn Fillard tied for fifth with marks of 9.750. Alexis Beucler finished ninth with a 9.650 and NC State posted an event total of 48.800, topping last week's total of 48.600
Bars
The Wolfpack improved its event total from last week's 48.350 to post a mark of 48.675. It was led by Lauren Kent's 9.775 that saw her finish second along with Drew Grantham, who set a career best, and Chelsea Knight who tied for fourth with scores of 9.750. Caitlyn Fillard also finished eighth thanks to her career best score of 9.725.
All-Around
Drew Grantham finished first and set a new career best with a total of 39.200, Chelsea Knight was second with 39.150 points and Caitlyn Fillard was third thanks to her career best total of 38.875.
