RALEIGH – The NC State men's soccer team officially begins Atlantic Coast Conference play on Friday evening when it hosts No. 3/5 Clemson. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. from Dail Soccer Stadium with live coverage provided by ACC Network Extra.

LAST MATCH
NC State took a 1-0 lead in the 10th minute of its Sept. 1 match against LIU Brooklyn and sustained that advantage until the weather took a turn for the worse.

In the 32nd minute of the match and at approximately 4:39 p.m., lightning was detected within eight miles of Dail Soccer Stadium and the match was postponed. The teams attempted to wait out the weather, but the storms proved too persistent and the contest was ultimately abandoned at 6:30 p.m., nearly two full hours after the initial delay.

Freshman David Norris scored on a header from a Brad Sweeney cross in the 10th minute to put the Wolfpack ahead early. Freshman goalkeeper Leon Krapf preserved the lead in the 24th minute when he stopped a Romario Guscott shot and the Wolfpack defense stepped up to clear a ball off the line in the 31st to keep the score at 1-0. Seconds later, the contest was stopped.

EARLY SUCCESS
Freshman forward Manny Perez has started his college career in impressive fashion, scoring two goals, including one match winner, in two matches. He currently ranks third in the ACC and 12th nationally in goals scored per match (1.00).

Through the first two contests of the season, NC State ranks 14th nationally with 2.50 goals scored per match.

SCOUTING THE TIGERS
-Clemson enters Friday's match ranked third nationally in the United Soccer Coaches poll and fifth in the Soccer America poll.
-The Tigers are 4-0-0 and are outscoring opponents 10-3.
-Clemson is also tied for 14th nationally at 2.50 goals scored per match.
-The Tigers return seven starters from a 2016 team that advanced to the NCAA Tournament Elite Eight and the ACC Tournament championship match.
