NC State Matches Up With Boston College At Home Thursday

RALEIGH – The No. 24/23 NC State women's soccer team (7-1-1, 0-0-1 ACC) returns to action Thursday evening when it hosts Boston College (7-3-0, 1-0-0 ACC) in its last of a five-match home stand at Dail Soccer Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. and the contest will be broadcast on the ACC Network Extra.
LAST TIME OUT
NC State closed out its non-conference schedule on Sunday afternoon with a 1-0 win over Western Carolina in Raleigh. Ricci Walkling's converted penalty kick that Maxine won in the 33rd minute was the difference.
The team recorded a season-high 19 shots with 12 of them coming in the second half, as Kia Rankin led the squad with eight.
NATIONAL RANKINGS
With its 7-1-1 season record and extending its unbeaten streak to five last week NC State is ranked in this week's national polls, checking in at No. 24 on the United Soccer Coaches Poll and 23rd on Soccer America's.
The first RPI (rating percentage index) of the season additionally came out this week and the Pack checked in at No. 13. The average RPI of the teams NC State has faced so far in 2017 is 93, as four of those opponents are listed among the top 65.
WOOTTEN NAMED ACC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
After an impressive performance in goal last week for the Wolfpack, Sydney Wootten was named ACC Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday by the league office. She recorded two shutouts and a combined 10 saves last week against No. 3 Virginia and Western Carolina, and holds a 4-1-1 season record.
SERIES HISTORY
Thursday will mark the 15th time the teams have met as Boston College leads the all-time series 12-2. Last season NC State traveled to Newton, Mass., and came away with a 1-0 win.

Boston College has won its last three matches, which includes a 2-0 victory over Louisville in its conference home opener on Sunday.
The Eagles are averaging 2.1 goals and 15.1 shots per game, as Lauren Berman paces her squad with five goals and 13 points. Goalkeeper Alexis Bryant has started all 10 matches for BC as she has recorded 26 saves and four shutouts this season.
