Men’s Golf Finishes Fifth at Wolf Run Intercollegiate

ZIONSVILLE, IND. – The NC State men's golf team opened the 2017 season with a fifth-place finish at the Wolf Run Intercollegiate held at the Wolf Run Golf Club in Zionsville, Ind.
Kentucky won the 16-team invitational with a three-day score of 872. Miami (OhIo) finished in second six strokes back of the Wildcats. UCF finished third and Arkansas State was fourth.
Harrison Rhoades led the Pack on the weekend with a three-round total of 221 (71-75-75) to finish in a tie for 11th place. Stephen Franken was next for the Pack in a tie for 18th place with a score of 223 (71-76-76).
Benjamin Shipp rebounded from a tough start to shoot the lowest rounds for the Wolfpack on Saturday and Sunday. Shipp finished in a tie for 26th with a three-round total of 227 (83-73-71).
Nolan Mills finished in a tie for 32nd place (71-78-79—228) and Christian Salzer rounded out the Pack contingent with a 49th place finish (75-79-79—233).
NC State is back in action next weekend when it travels to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to play in the Golfweek Conference Challenge. The 54-hole tournament starts on Sunday, Sept. 17 and concludes on Tuesday, Sept. 19.
