RALEIGH - The NC State women's soccer team concluded its exhibition slate on Friday evening, falling to Wake Forest 2-0 at Dail Soccer Stadium.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The teams remained scoreless in the first half, as both had several close opportunities but came up short. In the 69th minute of the match the Demon Deacons scored its first goal - a Hannah Betfort header off of a sharp cross by Claudia Day.
Wake doubled its lead in the 83rd minute with a Maddie Huster direct kick from 25 yards after an NC State foul.
COACH SANTORO'S TAKE
"Tonight was a great match to finish our preseason," said head coach Tim Santoro. "We played Tuesday and trained twice yesterday so we had some heavy and tired legs, which was the plan. Wake Forest is a much improved team with a few, new special players and they deserved the result tonight. The game served it's purpose and gives a few things to improve and adjust before Oregon on Friday."
