Wolfpack rising sophomore averaged 10.7 points per game at FIBA U19 World Cup

UDINE, Italy – Rising sophomore Aislinn Konig of the NC State women's basketball team achieved a historic feat with the Canadian U19 women's national team recently. The Wolfpack guard from Vancouver, British Columbia, helped her team win the bronze medal at the 2017 FIBA U19 Women's Basketball World Cup by defeating Japan 67-60 on July 30. The third-place finish was the highest ever for Canada at a FIBA U19 World Cup tournament.

Throughout the seven games of the tournament, Konig averaged 30.1 minutes, 10.7 points, 3.4 assists, and 2.7 rebounds per contest. She shot just shy of 40 percent from beyond the arc, and in a 74-70 win over Latvia on July 25, scored 32 points on 10-15 shooting from distance.

During her freshman season (2016-17) at NC State, Konig made the ACC Academic Honor Roll and averaged 17.1 minutes, 7.1 points, 1.5 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per contest. She missed two months of the season due to an injury at the beginning of the Atlantic Coast Conference schedule. Konig earned ACC Rookie of the Week honors on Dec. 19 after scoring 26 points in a win over NC Central. She finished the season with a positive assist-to-turnover ratio, scored in double figures on four occasions, and hit at least one 3FG in 13 games.
