Six NC State Gymnasts Earn Academic Honors

RALEIGH – The NC State Gymnastics team has been rewarded for its dedication and work ethic in the classroom, as six student-athletes were honored as Academic All-Americans by the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women (NACGC/W) on Wednesday.
In order to earn Academic All-America honors, student-athletes are required to earn a 3.50 GPA or higher.
Rising junior Maggie Tamburro, a Biomedical Engineering major, and rising sophomore Hailey Mesmer, majoring in Math Education, both earned a GPA of 4.0.
Rising senior pair Nicole Wild (Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Management) and Mackenzie Itcush (Communications – Communication Media) finished the year with 3.77 and 3.60 GPAs respectively.
Rising sophomore psychology major Melissa Brooker was also honored thanks to her 3.60, as was rising junior Communications major Caitlyn Fillard, who earned a 3.56.
