MLS Executives to Visit Raleigh on July 19

Full day of activities will be capped by public rally in downtown Raleigh

RALEIGH – Major League Soccer (MLS) President and Deputy Commissioner Mark Abbott will be visiting Raleigh on Wednesday, July 19, as part of the league's tour of 12 markets vying for MLS expansion, local club North Carolina FC announced recently. MLS executives will meet with business leaders and government officials while participating in several events organized by the club to showcase the market as it pursues an MLS franchise.
The day will be capped with a 5 p.m. public rally at 214 Martin Street (City Market in downtown Raleigh), where visiting executives will be able to experience firsthand the passion and commitment of the local fans for soccer and their desire to have an MLS club in their backyard.
The largest youth-to-professional soccer organization in the country, North Carolina FC is comprised of a women's first division team (North Carolina Courage), a men's second division team (North Carolina FC), and a Premier Development League team (North Carolina FC U23). Former NC State star Nazmi Albadawi features for the professional North Carolina FC club while current NC State players Vincent Durand, Caleb Duvernay, Nick Retzlaff, and Christoph Schneuwly feature for the U23 side. Teammates Harry Adanuty, Mac Gourlay, Jose Morales Jr., and Emanuel Perez have also come up through the club's youth system.
