Wolfpack to Compete at World Championship Trials

Athletes will attempt to qualify for World Championships, World University Games

RALEIGH - Members of the NC State men's and women's swimming team will travel to Indianapolis, Ind., to compete in the 2017 Philips 66 National Championships and World Championship Trials. The meet, set to run June 27-July 1, will be held at the IU Natatorium on the campus of IUPUI.Â
What's at Stake?
Athletes will compete for a spot at the 2017 FINA World Aquatics Championship, which will take place in Budapest, Hungary, from July 14th-30th. In addition, berths to the 2017 World University Games held August 20th-27th in Taoyuan City, Taiwan, will also be on the line.
To qualify for the World Championships, swimmers will need to finish among the two top in all events except the 100m and 200m freestyle, where the top six finishers will be invited to represent the United States as relay competitors.Â
In order to make the World University Games team, athletes must finish in the top two of each event, beside the 100m and 200m freestyle where the top three finishers will be invited. In addition, to be eligible, swimmers must have been enrolled in university in the Spring of 2017 or are enrolled for the Fall 2017 semester.
Earlier this year, Alexia Zevnik and Mackenzie Glover qualified to represent Canada in the World University Games.Â
Wolfpack in the Water:
Courtney Caldwell, Kayla Brumbaum, Elise Haan, Hannah Moore and Ky-lee Perry from the NC State women's swim team will compete, while James Bretscher, Ryan Held, Jack McIntyre, Justin Ress, Hennessey Stuart and Coleman Stewart from the men's squad will represent the Wolfpack. Â
In addition, Olympic Gold Medalist and former member of the NC State swim team Cullen Jones will compete.
How to Watch:
Preliminary sessions will begin at 9 a.m. each day while finals are slated to kick off at 6 p.m. NBCSN will air live finals coverage on the first two nights, with Universal HD airing the last three nights of finals.
NBC will also air coverage Saturday and Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
