Charleston Makes a #STATEMENT at ACC Outdoor Finale, Named Meet MVP

Atlanta, Ga. - Cravont Charleston, a true freshman from Charlotte, won the 100 meters, the 200 meters and led off the winning 4x100 meter relay during the final day of competition at the 2017 ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Georgia Tech on Sunday. Â Those three first-place finishes helped propel the Wolfpack men's team to a fourth-place point total of 78 and earned Charleston Most Valuable Performer honors.Â

Charleston joined two other true freshmen and a sophomore to earn the league title for NC State in the 4x100 meter relay, clocking in at 39.14. He ran the second  after taking the baton from Garner sophomore Nyheim Hines. Freshman Junpai Dowdy ran the third leg, while Raleigh freshman Dylan Peebles. anchored the winning group.

Charleston ran the second-fastest time in school history – a wind-aided 10.07 – to scorch the 100m field and earn his second title of the day. That mark is one of the top 10 run nationally in 2017.

Charleston and Peebles took first and second in the 200 meters, with times of 20.76 and 20.87 respectively. Â Both of those marks were personal bests for the rookies.

Hines, also a star for the Wolfpack football squad, finished third in the 100m to earn first-team All-ACC accolades with a 10.28, a new personal best.

Senior Megan Moye was also a first-team All-ACC performer in the women's 1500 meters, finished third with a 4:17.13 clocking. Ryen Frazier finished ninth in that event at 4:25.87.
Another senior, George Parsons, finished second in the men's 5000m, earning first-team All-ACC honors with a 13.54.62 mark.

In the women's 5000 meters, sophomore Rachel Koon and freshman Elly Henes won second-team all-conference honors, finishing fifth and sixth respectively with times of 16:20.02 and 16:25.36. Frazier finished eighth at 16:35.42.

Sophomore Christopher Garrick earned second-team All-ACC honors with a fourth-place finish in the men's high jump, posting a 6'11-1/2 (2.12m) height – a personal best.

Javonne Antoine was a second-team all-league performer in the women's triple jump with a 41'7-1/4" (12.68m) mark. Â Amara Bell finished 11th in that event with a 40'4-3/4" (12.31m) mark.
The women's squad finished ninth with 31 total points.
