Wolfpack Sprinters Speed Into Finals

NC State posted the top two qualifying times in the men's 100 meters, while three other Wolfpack competitors earned All-ACC honors during the second day of competition at the 2017 ACC Outdoor Track & Field Championships, held at the George Griffin Track & Field Facility at Georgia Tech.Â
Freshman Cravont Charleston posted the fastest time in the preliminary rounds of the 100 meters, clocking in at 10.35, a personal record. Sophomore Nyheim Hines finished in second place with a 10.55.  The tandem will compete in the 100m finals on Sunday at 6:30 p.m.  Charleston will also run in the 200m finals on Sunday at 7:30 p.m.
Senior Aubrey Myjer finished third in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 9:55.34, while sophomore Aaron Thomas finished sixth with a 9:07.05 mark. Myjer earned first-team All-ACC honors, while Aaron Thomas earned second-team accolades.
Sophomore Grant Rivers posted a second-team all-conference performance in the Decathlon, finishing fifth with his collegiate top score of 6,832 points.
On the women's side, sophomore Gabriele Cunningham will also compete in the 100m and 200m finals on Sunday, after qualifying in the 200m last night. Cunningham posted the fourth-best prelim. mark in the 100m at 11:48, a personal best, while finishing fifth in the finals of the 100m hurdles, with another PR: 13.57.
