
Softball Falls To Boston College In Series Opener

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -Â The NC State softball team opened its series at Boston College on Friday evening at Shea Field, falling 6-1.
The Wolfpack moves to 16-33 (9-10 ACC) and the Eagles improve to 28-18 (12-6 ACC) on the season.Â
Game RewindÂ
-The Eagles took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Taylor Coroneos plated the first run as she scored from second on an outfield single after leading off with a double. Two more runs were plated on bunts with runners at the corners.
-BC extended its lead to four in the second on a sac fly to center field. Annie Murphy came across home plate from third after a Wolfpack error and bunt single put her in scoring position.
-BC added another run in the fourth inning with an RBI double to left field, as Coroneos plated her second run of the day after leading off with a triple.Â
-NC State got on the board in the fifth, as Tyler Ross scored from second on Jade Caraway's single to the shortstop, which was followed by a Boston College error after hitting a one-out double to center field.
-Chloe Sharabba extended the Eagles' lead to 6-1 in the sixth with an RBI double to left field, as Dani Thomas opened the frame with a walk and a pair of groundouts put her in scoring position.
Inside The Box Score
-Peyton Silverman started in the circle for the Pack, and was relieved by Brittany Nimmo in the fifth inning.Â
-Caraway led the team at the plate with a 2-for-3 performance, while Haylee Kobziak and Ross each tallied a hit.Â

The teams will meet Saturday for the second game of the series. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. at Shea Field.Â
