
Softball Travels To Pittsburgh For Three-Game Series

RALEIGH – The NC State softball team will begin a seven-game road swing this weekend when it travels to Pittsburgh for a three-game series. The teams will play Friday at 5 p.m., while Saturday is set for a 1 p.m. start and first pitch Sunday is 12 p.m. at Vartabedian Field in the Petersen Sports Complex.
The Wolfpack enters the weekend with a 15-29 (8-7 ACC) record and the Panthers are 21-20 (4-14 ACC) this season. All three games will be broadcast live on the ACC Network Extra.
PACK VS. PANTHERS HISTORY
Friday will mark the 13th time the teams have met, and are tied at six in the all-time series. Last season Pitt traveled to Raleigh for a weekend series, as NC State took the first game, 6-5, but the Panthers won the last two games 2-1 and 4-2 to take the series.
LAST TIME OUT
The Pack hosted UNCW at Dail Stadium on Wednesday in a midweek matchup, and fell 6-0.
ROAD SWING
This weekend marks the start of a seven-game road swing for the Pack, as the team will travel next to Campbell for midweek game April 26 then face Boston College for a weekend series in Chestnut Hill, Mass., April 28-30.
GETTING ON BASE
Up until the Pack's second game with Notre Dame last weekend Jade Caraway held a 13-game streak of reaching base successfully with a hit or walk against ACC opponents. She leads the team with a .432 on-base mark along with 51 hits, and has tallied at least one hit in six of the team's last eight games.
PACK THREAT
In conference play NC State holds a .377 clip and 40 hits with runners in scoring position. Ross leads the team with eight hits, while Hutchison has a team-high .667 average in the situation.
A TRIP AROUND THE BASES
-As a team the Pack has belted 34 home runs this season, and 19 of them have come against ACC opponents. Molly Hutchison has hit seven of her 10 this season and Tyler Ross has tallied five of her eight in conference matchups.
-Both seniors hold 44 in their careers, which ranks third in the program's record books.
