No. 1 Wake Forest Tops NC State

RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State men's tennis team dropped a 6-1 result against No. 1 Wake Forest Thursday afternoon at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center. The Wolfpack moves to 13-13 (4-7 ACC) with the result, while Wake Forest improves to 23-1 (10-0 ACC). The match also marked senior day for Nick Horton.

"We're real proud of what Nick has done," said head coach Jon Choboy. "We talked about that in the locker room as a group. He maybe didn't image he could be a team captain. We maybe didn't imagine that either when he was a freshman, but he's embraced it. It's really good to see what he has done. He's always giving us 100% effort; I can't ask for more than that."

Match Recap:
NC State, who was playing with a depleted lineup due to injuries, was without a third doubles tandem or a sixth singles player, so Wake opened with a 1-0 lead. The Demon Deacons added another match point with a win at No. 2 doubles.

In singles play, Wake clinched the match with straight set results on the fourth and fifth courts to claim the win.

Igor Saveljic sent his match at No. 3 singles against No. 15 Skander Mansouri to extra games in the first set before falling 7-5, 6-4. No. 76 Nick Horton fell 6-4, 6-4 to No. 3 Petros Chrysochos.

NC State earned its point from a hard-fought victory at No. 2 singles. No. 119 Alexis Galarneau defeated No. 45 Borna Gojo, 6-3, 5-7, 1-0 (12-10) to earn a team high 24^th win of the year, 18^th win of the spring and sixth win over a ranked opponent.
