Wolfpack Falls to No. 33 Florida State

RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State men's tennis team ended its weekend, falling 5-2 to Florida State on Saturday afternoon at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center. The Pack sent the four final singles matches to three sets and fell in a tiebreaker to decide the doubles point in the close match.
The result halts the Pack's hot streak, where the team had previously won four of its last five ACC matches. NC State moves to 13-12 (4-6 ACC), while Florida State improves to 14-8 (5-6 ACC).
"There is a difference between getting beat and losing," said head coach Jon Choboy. "We lost today, we didn't get beat. We stepped back and wanted them to give it to us. We didn't go after it and this is the result.
"When its close like that and your teams are fairly evenly matched, you can't have lapses. You have to take the opportunities that are there."

Florida State edged the Pack in doubles play, winning in the tiebreak of the final match. Michael Ogden and Alexis Galarneau led the way with a 6-1 win over FSU's top doubles duo. It marked the pair's second-straight win at No. 1 doubles. Florida State rallied late to win the match on court two and send the third match to a tiebreak. The Seminole duo edged Ivan Saveljic and Igor Saveljic in the tiebreak to clinch the point and take a 1-0 lead into doubles play.
NC State erased the deficit in singles play, as Ivan Saveljic claimed a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 5 singles. However, FSU responded with a straight-set win on court three to take a 2-1 lead.
Each of the remaining four singles matches went to third sets.
The Wolfpack and Seminoles traded results on two of the remaining four third-set matches. Igor Saveljic earned a 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 win on court four to tie the match at 2-2, but FSU's No. 73 Guy Iradukunda edged No. 80 Nick Horton 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 to take a 3-2 lead.
Florida State clinched the match on court six with a 6-4, 7-6(5), 6-2 win, and added a late win on court one, as No. 63 Aziz Dougaz outlasted No. 109 Alexis Galarneau 6-7 (6), 6-3, 7-6 (5).

NC State will be back in action Wednesday, as its host Wake Forest at 3 p.m. at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center. Horton, the team's senior, will be honored in a pre-match ceremony.
