Wolfpack To Host Notre Dame In Weekend Series

RALEIGH – NC State's softball team will return to action at Dail Stadium this weekend when it hosts conference foe Notre Dame in a three-game series.
The teams will play a doubleheader Friday at 4 and 6 p.m., and a single game Saturday at 12 p.m. All three games will be broadcast on the ACC Network Extra, as Saturday's contest will be the team's annual Kay Yow Pink Game presented by UNC Rex Healthcare.
NC State enters the weekend with a 15-25 (8-4 ACC) record while the Fighting Irish are 23-15 (8-7 ACC) this season.
PACK VS. FIGHTING IRISH HISTORY
Friday will mark the ninth time the teams have met as NC State holds a 5-3 advantage in the all-time series. Last year the Wolfpack traveled to South Bend, Ind., and dropped two of its three games.
LAST TIME OUT
NC State traveled to Elon on Wednesday evening for a midweek matchup. Led by Molly Hutchison and Tyler Ross's three-run home runs the Pack earned a 9-0 run-rule victory over the Phoenix.
RECORD BREAKER
Hutchison's three-run blast on Wednesday broke the program record for career runs batted in, how holding 157 as a member of the Pack. This marked the fourth school record she has set in a five-day span as she broke single game records for home runs (3), RBIs (7) and total bases (13) in Saturday's game at Georgia Tech.
WOLFPACK VS. ACC OPPONENTS
-The Pack has managed to win three of its four series against conference opponents this season, holding an 8-4 mark to rank third in the standings.
-As a team NC State ranks among the top five in seven offensive categories against ACC opponents (slugging percentage, on-base percentage, runs, RBIs, home runs, walks and stolen bases).
-Freshman Jade Caraway has reached base in all 12 conference games with a hit, walk or hit-by-pitch, and currently holds a five-game streak with a team-best .389 batting average on the season.

-Notre Dame defeated Detroit Mercy 10-5 and IUPUI 13-6 (6 innings) in back-to-back home contests on Tuesday and Wednesday.
-In ACC play the Fighting took two of three in its series win over UNC-Chapel Hill last weekend. Notre Dame won the first two games 2-1 (9 innings) and 2-0, but the Tar Heels avoided the sweep with a 7-5 win in the finale.
-The team holds a .296 batting average with 4.71 runs per game. Morgan Reed and Ali Wester lead the squad at the plate with .393 clips, while Wester holds a team best 53 hits and 31 runs.
-Rachel Nasland paces the pitching staff with a 3.16 earned-run average and 11-7 record, while the team holds a combined 3.50 ERA with 4.02 strikeouts per game.
