Gymnastics Concludes Season at Gainesville Regional

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The NC State gymnastics team wrapped up its 2017 season at the NCAA Gainesville Regional Championship inside the Exactech Arena at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center on Saturday afternoon.

NC State faced its toughest competition all season, going against No. 3 Florida, No. 10 Georgia, No. 15 Missouri, No. 30 New Hampshire, No. 33 Penn State and No. 35 North Carolina along with individuals from Towson and Maryland.

A total of 18 athletes took part in the all-around competition, while a total of 42 gymnasts made up each event field.

All-Around:
Chelsea Knight represented the Pack in the all-around competition, scoring a 38.950 to finish ninth overall. Knight added rotation scores of 9.775 on beam, 9.775 on bars, 9.575 on floor and 9.825 on vault.

Knight posted her highest individual finish on vault, taking 11th in the overall competition. She also logged two more top-20 finishes, taking 19th on bars and 16th on beam.

Vault:
In her first regional competition, Paris Phillips finished with a vault score of 9.775 to finish 23rd overall.

Bars:
Amanda Fillard led the way on bars for the Pack, scoring a 9.825 to finish 12th overall. Melissa Brooker made her regionals debut and took 39th in the competition.
