
Wolfpack Earns Four Podium Finishes on Second Day of NCAA Championships

INDIANAPOLIS—The NC State men's swimming and diving team continued its momentum at the NCAA Championships held inside the IU Natatorium, earning four podium finishes on Thursday night. The Pack's strong performance was highlighted by a runner-up finish from sprint-standout Ryan Held in the 50 freestyle and a fourth place finish in the 200 freestyle relay.
After seven events, the Wolfpack has racked up 11 outright All-America honors and six honorable mention All-America honors. In addition, the Wolfpack broke two conference records and three school records on the second day of the Championships.
In the team standings, NC State will enter the third day of competition in fourth place with 123 points. Texas leads the meet with 225.5 points, California sits in second with 143 points and Florida rounds out the top three teams with 138.5 points.

Wolfpack Relays
NC State opened the second day of competition by taking fourth in the 200 freestyle relay to earn All-America honors. The team of Held, Andreas Schiellerup, Justin Ress and Scott Johnson finished with a time 1:15.82, just off its time from the morning, 1:15.56, which stands as the third-fastest time in program history. In the prelim session, Held's blistering leadoff split of 18.58 tabbed the ACC and school record.
Freestyle
Distance freestylers Anton Ipsen and Adam Linker represented the Wolfpack in the 500 free. Ipsen finished eighth in the event with a time of 4:11.73 to lower his previous school record. Linker garnered honorable mention All-America honors, swimming a time of 4:15.92 to take 15th in the overall standings.
In the 50 freestyle, Held tabbed the highest individual finish of his career, touching as runner-up in the event with a time of 18.60. The swim marks his highest finish in an individual event at the NCAA Championships. Additionally, Schiellerup swam a time of 19.49 to take 29th overall.
Individual Medley
NC State had two entries in the 200 individual medley, both of whom qualified for finals. Andreas Vazaios had a blazing performance in the prelim session, breaking both the ACC and school records with a time of 1:40.77. In finals, the Greece native touched in 1:41.53 to take seventh and earn his first individual All-America honors. Vazaios' prelims time stands as the 11th fastest of all time in the event. Soren Dahl earned honorable mention All-America honors, finishing 16th with a time of 1:43.60.

The Pack will return to action Friday morning for the third day of the NCAA Championships. Prelims are set to begin at 10 a.m. while finals will commence at 6 p.m. Competition will kick off with the 400 IM, followed by the 100 butterfly, 200 free, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke and 200 medley relay.
