Men’s Tennis Travels to Duke for Midweek Match

RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State men's tennis team will face Duke Wednesday at 3 p.m. at the Ambler Tennis Stadium in Durham, N.C., as it continues its ACC slate.
NC State enters the match with a 9-8 (0-2 ACC) record, while Duke owns an 8-6 (1-2 ACC) record.
Scouting Duke:
Duke has faced a tough schedule, losing to top-10 opponents in its last three matches. All six of the Blue Devils' losses come against teams ranked 17th or higher in the national poll. Duke is led in singles play by No. 22 Nicolas Alvarez. No. 76 Spencer Furman and No. 95 Catalin Mateas round out the ranked singles players for Duke. In doubles play, Vincent Lin and Mateas lead the team at No. 72 in the rankings.
Pack in the Polls:
Nick Horton and Alexis Galarneau lead the team in doubles play. The duo is ranked 63rd in the ITA poll and holds a 10-7 record. Horton leads the team in singles play at No. 87 in the rankings, while Galarneau is ranked 92nd. Galarneau and Georgiy Malyshev lead the team with 18 singles wins each.

NC State dropped a narrow 4-3 decision to Virginia Tech in its last match. Both teams won three singles matches each. The deciding point came down to the doubles point, where the Hokies clinched the match with a 7-6(7-3) win at No. 1 doubles.
