Pack To Host Homewood Suites By Hilton RDU/RTP Invitational

RALEIGH – The NC State softball team will welcome Fordham, Lehigh and Rutgers to Dail Stadium this weekend for the Homewood Suites by Hilton RDU/RTP Invitational.
NC State begins play in the invitational against Lehigh at 2:30 p.m. Friday and takes on Rutgers later that day at 4:45 p.m. Saturday the Pack will play Fordham at 12:15 p.m.
The event will be a round-robin tournament, as the No. 1 and 4 seeds will meet at 2:30 p.m. Saturday and the No. 2 and 3 seeds will play at 4:45 p.m. Sunday the winners from both games meet in the championship game at 12:15 p.m., while the losers will play in the third-place game at 10 a.m.
All of the games will be streamed on GoPack.com. Refer to the tournament central page for more information.
NC State (3-12) owns a 2-0 advantage over Lehigh and Rutgers in the all-time series, and leads 5-1 in its series with Fordham.

The Wolfpack dropped its game at Charlotte on Wednesday afternoon, falling 5-2 to the 49ers.
TRIPLE THREAT
Freshman Jade Caraway has tallied a team best three triples this season, and two of them were hit at the Mary Nutter Classic against UCLA and Oregon State (Feb. 23 and 24). She's the only player in the ACC that has three and leads the team at the plate with a .455 batting average.
DOUBLE TROUBLE
-Four players have hit three doubles this season – Cheyenne Balzer, Molly Hutchison, Jessica Moore and Tyler Ross. Three other players have tallied at least one, giving the team a total of 16.
-NC State has recorded a double play in six of its games, which ranks third among the ACC. The most recent was against Oregon State on Feb. 24 by Alyssa Compton (ss), Natalie Jones (2b) and Balzer (1b).
PACK YOUTH
A combined eight underclassmen on the Pack's roster have made appearances defensively, in the circle or at the plate this year, and four of those players have started in all 15 games.
STOLEN BASES
Caraway and Ross lead the team in stolen bases with four apiece. Compton and Hutchison have stolen one each, giving the team 10 on the season.
LUCKY NUMBER SEVEN
Hutchison and Ross have both reached base safely with a hit or walk in the last seven games, as Hutchison was walked twice and Ross tallied a double and home run in Wednesday's game at Charlotte. They have also drawn seven walks each this season.
ABOUT FORDHAM
Fordham will enter the weekend with a 10-4 ledger, posting a 4-1 record last weekend at the Diamond 9 Citrus Classic in its last time out. The Rams' only loss was to No. 3 Florida.
ABOUT LEHIGH
Lehigh opened its season last weekend at the Diamond 9 Citrus Classic, finishing 3-2 in Orlando, Fla. The Mountain Hawks defeated Morgan State, Ball State and Georgia Southern in its first three games, and fell to Syracuse and the third-ranked Gators in its final two.
ABOUT RUTGERS
The Scarlet Knights (1-8) are off to a tough start this season with only one win on its schedule. Rutgers defeated Boston College, 4-0, last weekend at the FGCU Four Points Invitational.
