Men’s Tennis Hosts Virginia Tech

RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State men's tennis team will be back in action on Friday at 3 p.m. against Virginia Tech at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center for its ACC home opener. The Wolfpack enters the match with a 9-7 (0-1 ACC) record, while Virginia Tech holds a 5-6 (0-1 ACC) record.
Scouting Virginia Tech:
The Hokies recently earned a 7-0 win over James Madison and a 6-1 loss to Duke last weekend. The visitors have faced a tough schedule with four of its losses coming to ranked opponents. Individually, Jai Corbett leads Virginia Tech with a 4-4 overall record and two wins over ranked opponents. Corbett is ranked 74th in the ITA singles poll, while Henrik Korsgaard rounds out the singles rankings at No. 107.
Pack in the Polls:
Nick Horton and Alexis Galarneau lead the team in doubles play. The duo is ranked 51st in the ITA poll and holds a 9-4 record. Horton leads the team in singles play at No. 73 in the rankings, while Galarneau is ranked 116th. Galarneau and Georgiy Malyshev lead the team with 17 singles wins each.
Last Time Out:
Despite falling in the overall team match, Horton and Galarneau picked up a doubles victory over North Carolina's No. 17 William Blumberg and Robert Kelly with a 6-3 victory on court one. It marked the second win over a nationally ranked opponent for NC State's top duo, who recently moved into the national rankings.
