Pack Falls to No. 4 Heels

Chapel Hill, N.C. – The NC State men's tennis team dropped its ACC opener to No. 4 North Carolina on Wednesday afternoon at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center. The Wolfpack falls to 9-7 (0-1 ACC) with the 7-0 result, while UNC improves to 14-2 (3-0 ACC).
NC State opened the match with an impressive result on the first doubles court, as the No. 51 duo of Nick Horton and Alexis Galarneau upset UNC's 17th-ranked William Blumberg and Robert Kelly with a 6-3 victory on court one. It marks the second win over a nationally ranked opponent for NC State's top duo, who just recently moved into the national rankings.
However, UNC went on to capture the doubles point with wins on courts two and three.
UNC then topped the Pack on courts five, two and six to clinch the overall the match. The Tar Heels also added victories on courts three, one and four to close out the match.

NC State will be back action with a quick turnaround. The Pack will host Virginia Tech Friday at 3 p.m. at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center.
