GREENSBORO, N.C. – The No. 23 NC State women's soccer team placed a program-record five student athletes on the 2016 All-ACC Academic Women's Soccer Team, as announced by the league office Tuesday morning.
Freshmen Tziarra King, Kia Rankin, Kristina Schuster, Michaella van Maanen and Ricarda Walkling were all selected to the team, giving the Wolfpack its most honorees in one season in school history.
The group starred in the classroom, earning an average GPA of 3.71. Four members of the team made the Dean's List, while all five were named NC State Scholar Athletes for the fall semester.
The Pack's honorees dazzled on the field, netting 21 goals and 17 assists for 59 points. The group were all key members in leading NC State to a Sweet 16 appearance at the NCAA Championships, setting the program's highest RPI in school history and earning the second-most ACC wins and points in a single season in program history.
Individually the group picked up three All-ACC honors and two NSCAA All-Region honors, while four members appeared on Top Drawer Soccer's Freshmen Top-100 team.
Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
