RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State men's tennis team continues its dual season with two more matches this weekend. The Pack will make its first road trip of the season, as it travels to South Carolina for a Friday afternoon match against the Gamecocks at 1 p.m. The Pack will then host VCU Sunday at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center Sunday at 12 p.m.

NC State enters the weekend with a 6-3 record, coming off a 5-2 victory over Minnesota last weekend.

Scouting South Carolina:
The Gamecocks are undefeated with a 7-0 record. The team received votes in the latest ITA national team poll and has only dropped two match points all season, sweeping five of its seven opponents. In the overall series, South Carolina holds a 33-21 lead, but the Pack has won the last three matches in the rivalry. South Carolina is led by a trio of ranked singles players. Thomas Mayronne leads the team at No. 107, Yancy Dennis is ranked No. 110 and Gabriel Friedrich rounds out the rankings at No. 121.

Scouting VCU:
VCU will enter the weekend with a 6-3 record. Before taking on NC State Sunday, the Rams will face Binghamton Friday. VCU opened the season by sweeping the their invitational with four straight victories. However, the team is coming off losses to Penn State and Princeton in their last two matches. The two teams are tied 6-6 in the overall series. NC State won the last meeting 2015.

Last Time Out:
NC State downed previously-undefeated Minnesota, winning 5-2 at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center. Alexis Galarneau led the way with his second win over a nationally-ranked opponent, taking down No. 51 Matic Spec. The Pack won on singles courts 1-5 to earn the victory.

Record Watch:
Nick Horton has won at least 20 matches in each of his first three years with the Pack. He's already up to 10th in school history in total singles wins with 73. His 75th win will move him into a tie for eighth place in all-time singles wins.

Pack In The Polls:
Both Horton and Galarneau are ranked in the current ITA singles poll. Galarneau shot up from No. 103 to a team-high No. 67 after five-straight victories, including a win over previous No. 30 Lukas Finzelberg. Galarneau won the ACC Men's Tennis Player of the Week award after posting the big victory. Horton checks in at No. 68 after picking up two wins from the top singles spot early in the season.

Galarneau leads the team with six-straight victories. The freshman has defeated nationally-ranked opponents in two of his last three matches and has been the first Wolfpack player to win a singles match in each of the last six singles matches.

Georgiy Malyshev and Igor Saveljic are tied for a team high 13 singles wins this year. Both have come up big during the dual season for the Pack. Malyshev has won seven of his last 10, while Saveljic has only dropped one match during the dual season.
