
Women's Tennis Dominates Doubleheader

Defeats James Madison, Furman
RALEIGH – The NC State women's tennis team swept its doubleheader on Friday, winning over James Madison and Furman. The Wolfpack is on a four-match winning streak and has an overall season record of 6-2.
NC State 6, James Madison 1
The Wolfpack started off the match by snatching the doubles point quickly as the duo of Martina Frantova and Anna Rogers defeated James Madison's Kimmy Herrock and Rebecca Harris, 6-2. The win was followed by another 6-2 win in No. 3 doubles as Amanda Rebol and Tayla Stenta beat Emma Petersen and Dylan Owens to put NC State up 1-0.
In singles, the Pack won four consecutive matches, each in straight sets. Frantova was first to finish, earning the win in No. 1 singles over Rachel Nelson, 7-5, 6-1. Rogers followed suit, easily winning No. 2 singles 6-1, 6-3 over Jona Roka. The match-clincher came from freshman Adriana Reami as she earned a 6-4, 6-2 win in No. 3 singles, defeating JMU's Petersen.
James Madison took their only point of the night as No. 106 Rebol fell to Herrock in No. 5 singles, 6-1, 6-3. The final point of the match came from Moldovan, as she breezed to an easy 6-1, 6-2 win over JMU's Owens.
The loss was the Dukes' first of the season, moving the team to a 4-1 season record.
NC State 6, Furman 1
In the second match of the day, NC State took the doubles point once again to give the team a 1-0 lead heading into singles play.
Rogers and Frantova both earned their second straight-set wins of the day with 6-1, 6-4 and 6-2, 7-5 wins, respectively. In No. 3 singles, Furman received its only point of the night as Danni Vines defeated Reami, 6-3, 7-5.
The Wolfpack responded to the missed point with a victory in singles No. 2 to win the match. In the only three-setter of the day, Wiktorin bounced back from a loss in set one to win the match, 2-6, 6-4, 6-1. In No. 5 singles, Moldovan defeated Furman's Hannah Ferrett, 6-3, 4-6, 10-4. Rebol earned the Wolfpack its final point of the night, taking the No. 5 singles 6-2, 7-6 (10-8).
The loss moves Furman to a 4-4 season record.
Up Next:
The Wolfpack will continue its home stand on Sunday with a doubleheader against William & Mary and East Tennessee State. Match times are set for 1 p.m. and 6 p.m, respectively.
