PALM DESERT, Calif. – A formidable opponent in the round of 32 at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Fall National Championships in the form of Northwestern's Alexandria Chatt & Lee Or was not enough to halt Claudia Wiktorin & Anna Rogers of the NC State women's tennis team as the Wolfpack duo advanced to the round of 16 on Wednesday thanks to their 6-1, 5-7, 1-0 (9) win at the JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort & Spa in Palm Desert, California.
Â
Wiktorin & Rogers showed why they were ranked No. 26 in the ITA preseason doubles poll as they battled through the adversity of losing the second set to hold on and win a tight third set tie-break. Chatt & Or recently finished as runner-up at the ITA Midwest Regional Championships, making Wiktorin & Rogers' hard-fought win even more impressive.
