Thoughts from head coach Simon Earnshaw
"One thing that's important for the culture we are building at NC State is that if we put in the work and stick to the process then we will earn opportunities," he explained. "The hard part is that there are no guarantees that this is going to happen and it's a long process in order to gain that reward. What's happened this Fall with Anna & Claudia speaks volumes for this and shows that the rewards do exist. They've earned their way into the fall-ending ITA National Championships and the payoff is more opportunities to play the best teams in the country, which if you want to do well is exactly the way it needs to be. Go Pack!"
Scouting the opponents
Chatt was ranked No. 5 in the ITA preseason doubles poll with Northwestern teammate Maddie Lipp, but teamed with Orr at the ITA Midwest Regional Championships. They excelled playing together and finished the Championships as runners-up; they will be looking to build off that success in California.
Â
Strength of the ACC
Wiktorin & Rogers have beaten some of the top-ranked teams in the nation throughout the fall, including No. 4 Jada Hart & Ena Shibahara of UCLA, and will be looking add to their resume by taking down more of the nation's top teams, many of whom come from the ACC. The ITA rewarded ACC teams with six of the top eight seeds for the Championships including No. 1 Ellyse Hamlin/Kaitlyn McCarthy (Duke), No. 3 Kelly Chen/Samantha Harris (Duke), No. 5 Rosie Johnson/Meghan Kelley (Virigina), No. 6 Jessie Aney/Alexa Graham (UNC-Chapel Hill), No. 7 Paige Houran/Kenya Jones (Georgia Tech) and No. 8 Gabriela Knutson/Miranda Ramirez.
