GREENSBORO, N.C. – After scoring five of her team's six goals last week, sophomore Tziarra King of the NC State women's soccer team was named ACC Offensive Player of the Week by the league office on Tuesday morning.
She scored a pair of second half goals in the Wolfpack's 2-1 win over Louisville last Thursday, helping the squad finish third in the ACC regular season standings and host Dail Soccer Stadium's first-ever ACC Championship match on Sunday.
King turned in another dominant performance in the ACC quarterfinals, recording her first career hat trick in the squad's 4-1 win over No. 24 Notre Dame. All three of her goals came in the second half as the result propelled the Pack to its first ACC semifinals appearance since 1995.
The Sicklerville, N.J., native continues to ink her name in NC State's all-time record book, as she currently ranks ninth in most goals (14) and points (34) in a single season. She also has moved into the top 10 of the NCAA rankings, ranking sixth in points and seventh in goals.
Among the conference she ranks first in points and second in goals, goals per game (.74) and points per game (1.79). This marks her second weekly honor of the season.
The Pack returns to action Friday when it takes on in-state rival No. 4 UNC-Chapel Hill in the ACC Championship semifinal at MUSC Health Stadium in Charleston, S.C. Kickoff is approximately at 8 p.m. and will be broadcast on Regional Sports Networks.
