No. 9 Junior Amanda Rebol and sophomore Adriana Reami also had a bye in the opening round, then had no trouble advancing to the third round as the toppled Coastal Carolina's Dalla Bona and Sara Bondar 8-1.
In the Wolfpack's only doubles loss of the day, Stenta paired with junior Bianca Moldovan as they fell 8-4 to Sabrina Barisano and Madara Straume of UNC-Wilmington.
While head coach Simon Earnshaw was pleased with the opening day's play, he is eager to accomplish more as the tournament progresses.
"We're just starting out at the tournament; it was good to see Taylor get through the qualifying to make main draw fairly convincingly," he said. "Obviously we're just getting started in this event and we've got a long way to go starting off with tomorrow"
